One of my favorite things to do in my free time (and in past jobs!) is to research topics and try out new ways of approaching things. Below are some things I’ve tried out and personally benefited from and I can’t help but pass them on.
Try Softer by Aundi Kolber - extremely accessible and written by a therapist, this is a compendium of the best nervous system/stress resilience techniques, from a Christian perspective
Jen Wright’s Mental Resilience Training
Irene Lyon’s 21 Day Nervous System Reset
Irene’s Lyon’s YouTube Channel
Prescriptions for a Healthy House - book for considerations when building a new house
Green Building Supply - has stringent standards for home materials and finishes
Four Home Upgrades for Minimizing Mycotoxins - blog post from a Functional Medicine practitioner on considerations for patients with mycotoxin issues
In the Cincinnati area, Kristin Szava of Safety Tech is a resource for mycotoxin testing and other safety concerns. She helps create plans for customers and has deep knowledge of who to partner with to achieve the desired results.
Howard Schubiner’s view on pain rocked my world. This talk at Google is a quick synopsis of where he’s coming from and the research he’s doing.
Dr Perry Nickelston’s Lymphatic Mojo - instructional video that walks through the why lymph matters related to pain and how to help your lymphatic system yourself. If you buy this course, let me know and I’ll send you my cheat sheet that helps me remember the order and what to do, without needing to watch the video each time.
Curable - the app is a cost-effective way to learn and apply the biopsychosocial approach to pain, developed by a team of board-certified physicians, pain psychologists, physical therapists, and neuroscientists. They feature a variety of other options beyond the app, like groups and online workshops.
This Too Shall Last by K.J. Ramsey - an honest and empathetic Christian perspective in the midst of pain from a therapist.
